Thomas "Trey" Hightower III

Thomas “Trey” R. Hightower, III is a partner in the Hightower Law Firm. He attended Louisiana State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 2005. After graduating, Trey attended the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. While in law school, he was recognized with a CALI Award in Legal Writing. Trey graduated with a J.D./B.C.L. in 2008 and was admitted to the Bar later that same year.
Trey served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Richard T. Haik, Sr. (retired), Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, from 2008-2009. Thereafter, he practiced primarily in the field of medical malpractice defense with a well-respected local law firm before joining Hightower Law Firm in 2012. Since that time, Trey has enjoyed a general civil litigation practice with experience handling insurance coverage issues, automobile accidents, truck/18-wheeler accidents, personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, premises liability, landlord/tenant matters, and construction law.
As a leading legal professional in Acadiana, Trey holds the highest rating (“AV-Preeminent”) awarded by Martindale Hubbell, which is the most widely recognized and respected lawyer peer review service. He has also been consistently recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers for seven years in a row. Throughout his career, Trey has dedicated considerable time and effort toward serving the underprivileged in Acadiana. For his efforts, he has been presented with the Outstanding Attorney Award by the Lafayette Volunteer Lawyers (2015, 2017, and 2019), and was previously honored by the Louisiana State Bar Association with the Pro Bono Publico Award. Trey is also actively involved with the local legal community, currently serving on the Lafayette Bar Association’s Board of Directors, and previously serving as President of the Lafayette Young Lawyers Association and the John M. Duhe Inn of Court.
Outside of the legal field, Trey is actively involved in the community, serving on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana (Past President), on the Board of Directors of Hospice of Acadiana, the President of the Greater Southwest Mardi Gras Association (Past President), and on the Board of Directors of the Krewe of Gabriel. He is married to Paige Hensgens Hightower of Lafayette, and they have four young children.
